Get quals or get out
- With the Navy perform to serve it is becoming challenging to stay Navy in this rate. The rate is over manned and PTS does not see the work you did they see how you look on paper. If you have worked hard for your command but you dont have the same time, quals, education as someone who has done less work they navy will let you go first. If you want to stay in this rate get your qualifiacations first. I dont know why anyone would want to be an AS.

Retired as AS
- I spent 20 years as a AS, Retired in 1997 as a E-6. I enjoyed my time in the Navy and had 2 ship tours. I now work for Pepsi as a production line Mechanic and also enjoy that. I work as a auto mechanic for 2 yrs after retiring and as a electrican for 2 yrs. AS's can fix anything!
