Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz announced a change to the air and space expeditionary force rotational baseline from 120 to 179 days for most active component Airmen. Do you think deployment lengths are too long?

Not a big deal

Some of us have been doing six months for a while. While some people are so upset about their six months on 2 years off, but as CE, we are now doing six on six off. And we have been for a year or so. But just be happy in the fact that soon, we will have a lot more time home, because if things keep going this way, we'll be gone as long, or longer, than the Army. So maybe I should have joined the Army, since they get re-enlisted bonuses, and other good bonuses. We get closer and closer to doing what the Army does, but the AF forgets to hook us up like the Army does their people.

Army has been longer... for years

First deployment was 15 months. This one is a year. Do I think this is too long? Oh heck yes. Way too long. Honestly, if I could have deployed for just 179 days, I would probably be alot less disgruntled right now. 15 months is a long time to spend away from your family. 179 days? If I were you guys, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
