Military Travel-Related Pay

Information and resources concerning military travel-related pay such as permanent change of station (PCS) travel, and temporary duty (TDY) travel.

Military Overseas Per Diem Rates

Military members who perform TDY (Temporary Duty) away from their normal duty stations are authorized to be reimbursed for additional expenses, such as lodging and meals. The military reimburses such expenses in the way of a daily "Per Diem" payment. The maximum amount of Per Diem differs from one location to another, depending on the "cost of living" of that area.

2009 Dislocation Allowance Rates

Military members may be entitled to a dislocation allowance (DLA) when relocating their household due to a PCS. However, keep in mind that DLA is intended to partially reimburse relocation expenses not otherwise reimbursed and probably will not reimburse all of the relocation expenses.

2009 CONUS Per Diem Rates

Temporary Duty Per Diem is payable when a military member is performing temporary duty (TDY) at a location different from where they are stationed. Here are the rates for Fiscal Year 2009.

2008 Dislocation Allowance

2006 Per Diem (TDY) CONUS Rates

Per Diem is paid to military members (and civilian DOD employees) who are on official temporary duty (TDY) at a location other than their permanent duty assignment for more than one day (except if under "field conditions"). Here are the FY 2006 rates for locations in the Continental United States (CONUS).

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Entitlements

Military members who make Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves from one duty station to another are authorized many entitlements. Below is a quick glance of the major entitlements authorized in conjunction with moving from one duty assignment to another.

Hardship Duty Pay (2005 Rates)

Hardship Duty Pay - Location, or HDP-L is additional compensation paid to service members during assignment in land areas outside the continental United States where living conditions are substantially below the standard compared to the continental United States.

You may be entitled to a dislocation allowance (DLA) when relocating your household due to a PCS. However, keep in mind that DLA is intended to partially reimburse relocation expenses not otherwise reimbursed and probably will not reimburse all of your relocation expenses.

Military Travel Rates

Military members who travel on official duty (either temporary duty travel, or permament change of station), can request a mileage reimbursement for their travel by "personally owned conveyance" (POC), in lieu of a government purchased airline ticket.

FY 2003 TDY Per Diem Rates

Military personnel performing temporary duty, away from their home station receive reimbursement for lodging and meals in accordance with the per diem rate charts. These rates are effective on October 1, 2002.

Dislocation Allowance (FY 2003)

You may be entitled to a dislocation allowance (DLA) when relocating your household due to a PCS. However, keep in mind that DLA is intended to partially reimburse relocation expenses not otherwise reimbursed and probably will not reimburse all of your relocation expenses.

Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA)

Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA) is payable to military members for temporary lodging expenses overseas in conjunction with a PCS move.

Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE)

TLE is payable for temporary lodging expenses in conjunction with a PCS move within the 50 states and D.C.
