Housing is privatized at NAS Whiting Field with The Whiting Pines Navy Family Housing overseeing family housing needs. The Whiting Pines Navy Family Housing is a Public-Private Venture community run by Balfour Beatty Communities.
Whiting Pines is located approximately seven minutes south of NAS Whiting Field. All units are equipped with electric ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers, garbage disposals, washer & dryer hook-ups, and geothermal central air and heat. Within the housing area is a community center, a recently expanded NEX mini-mart, a swimming pool and kiddie pool, basketball court, tennis courts, large playground area, and a walking/jogging track that encircles the community. Your rent includes all utilities and lawn care services as well as access to a 24-hour maintenance team. All homes are already wired for cable and high-speed cable internet. Pets are allowed and no Pet deposit is required.
Dual military families pay rent at the BAH rate for the senior member. The junior service member retains their BAH entirely. Single service members are now also eligible for family housing. The rental price is the Balfour Beatty Communities market rate for a 2-bedroom home. If two single service members share a house, the rent payment is split between the two roommates.
Housing applications must be made on DD Form 1746, Application for Assignment to Housing, and submitted to the Family Housing Office with a copy of your orders and a page two. They can be submitted by mail, FAX or in person. Applications can be made anytime following receipt of permanent change of station (PCS)orders, but placement on the waiting list (effective date of application) will be the member's detachment date from his/her previous duty station or the date reporting to your local command if this is your first permanent duty station. If application is received 30 days after reporting to your new permanent duty station, the effective date of application will be the date the application is received by the housing office.
Gateway Inns & Suites is the Consolidated Bachelor Housing (CBH) aboard NAS Whiting Field. The complex houses both the Bachelor Officer Housing (BOH) and the Bachelor Enlisted Housing (BEH).
The BOH is comprised of 120 living quarters. Officers are assigned a private bedroom and lounge area complete with a kitchenette, washer/dryer unit and ceiling fans.
The BEH has 160 two-bedroom suites with a shared lounge area complete with kitchenette, washer/dryer unit and ceiling fans. Petty Officers second class and above are assigned individual bedrooms.
