Fort Meade and the National Security Agency has established an access control
plan so that they can better protect and care for their citizens. Safety and
security of its people and facilities are paramount.
Navy personnel should enter the NSA Visitor Control Center through the Canine Road gate entrance (VCC-1), located off Maryland Route 32. Upon arrival, if you enter through the Fort Meade access control first, you cannot enter the NSA and 9800 area without first obtaining an NSA-issued Campus Badge. You will need a copy of your orders and a military id to obtain a Campus Access Badge.
Located within the Baltimore/Washington corridor, situated in central Maryland, there are numerous points of interest convenient to Fort Meade residents - Annapolis (20 minutes away), home of the U.S. Naval Academy; Baltimore (20 minutes away), birthplace of Babe Ruth and the Star Spangled Banner and Washington, DC (40 minutes away), our nation's capital. Maryland borders Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia.
The installation lies four miles east of Interstate 95 and one-half mile east of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, between Maryland State Routes 175 and 198. Fort Meade is situated within the communities of Odenton, Laurel, Severn and Columbia.
From Baltimore-Washington Airport (BWI):
Leave the Airport (Aviation Blvd) Take 195 to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway/MD-295 South exit towards Washington, exit #7A. Take the MD-32 East exit towards Ft Meade. Get in the Left lane go straight to NSA gate on Canine Rd. Access to NSGA is different/separate from the base (Ft Meade). You must have a badge for access to the NSGA area, advise the NSA gate guards that you are reporting for duty to NSGA.
From Points South: from US-50/Washington Beltway 395/495 take Baltimore-Washington Parkway/MD-295 North towards Baltimore for about 16 miles. Take the MD-32 west exit towards Columbia (the Ft Meade exit is closed. Immediately take Baltimore-Washington Parkway/MD-295 South towards Washington. Immediately Take the MD-32 East exit towards Ft Meade. Get in the Left lane go straight to NSA gate on Canine Rd. Access to NSGA is different/separate from the base (Ft Meade).
