The Child Development Centers are located on COMNAVMAR: 671-564-1844; NAVHOSP: 671-472-2312; and Andersen Air Force Base: 671-366-1601/3.

There is usually a 1-3 month waiting list for services. For infants it can be 3-6 months or more. Priority depends upon their parent's status: i.e., dual-active duty, single parent, etc, and the date of application. Space availability depends upon location of care and age of the child.

Prospective patrons are required to fill out a "Request for Care Form" in order to be placed on the list at each facility. Some of the CDC's accept advance reservations/applications, but this policy is not standard for all. Please contact the CDC directly to discuss their policies.

Fees are established by DOD and vary based upon total family income. Some CDC's give a discount after the first child in a family.

Child Development Homes (CDH) Program offers child care for children in the military housing unit of a trained, certified child care giver. Care is provided for infants over the age of 6 weeks to school age children. CDH providers are required to complete monthly training and and monitored for compliance with regulations by the FCC Monitor. Those providing childcare in their home for more than 10 hours per week must be certified.

Providers set their own fees. Fees usually range about $65-$90 for one child for one week. A pre-school setting is not a requirement of CDH, but some providers have incorporated this into their program. There is usually no waiting list, but occasionally there may be a wait at a specific housing area. Some smaller housing areas have limited availability.

A list of current CDH providers can be obtained from the Fleet and Family Support Center Office: NCTS: 671-355-5658/86, or COMNAVMAR: 671-333-2056/7.

There are three Youth and Teen Centers located aboard Naval Base Guam. For information about any of the youth centers and programs offered call 671-564-1838/9.

Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) offers many different youth sports programs (ex. swimming, soccer, basketball, and much more). Guam offers the perfect climate for many year round outdoor sports. Both Boy and Girls Scouts are offered on base and are quite active. Guam has many scouting troops off-base that boys and girls may join. To join the Boy Scouts call 671-649-0639 or the Girl Scouts at 671-646-5652. McCool Elementary/Middle School, 671-339-8676, sponsors the Sea Cadet Program.
