United States Marine Corps Re-Enlistment Bonuses

The Marine Corps offers monetary bonuses for enlisted Marines who agree to re-enlist in "shortage" MOSs (jobs).

The amount of bonus depends on the "Multiplier" assigned to the MOS, the individual's rank, the member's time in service, and the number of years the individual re-enlists for.

The below charts show the re-enlistment bonus multipliers for Marines who re-enlist in "Zone A." That means those who re-enlist who have between 17 months of service and six years of service at the time of re-enlistment.

The re-enlistment multiplier is used in conjunction with the member's base pay.

The formula to compute the amount of the re-enlistment bonus is:

(MULTIPLIER) X (BASE PAY) X (NUMBER OF YEARS RE-ENLISTING)

So, a Marine with a re-enlistment multiplier of "3," agreeing to re-enlist for 4 years, would receive 3 times his/her base pay, multiplied by 4.

Zone B Bonuses are capped at $45,000. Zone B bonuses are for Marines who (at the time of reenlistment) have between 6 and 10 years of service. The Marine Corps pays their reenlistment bonuses in a lump sum. Reenlistment bonuses are subject to taxes unless the member reenlists in a tax-free combat zone.
