Fairfax Area Alive with Military History

Finally, don't forget to visit the museum inside the visitor's center. Some of the more unique items on display include items recovered from the fields of Manassas including a fife and drumstick - both in great condition, as well as two pistols. There is also a shoe from Private George Lyles of the Virginia Infantry. It still has the cannister shot embedded in the sole of the shoe when Lyles was wounded in battle.

The park is open all year long during daylight hours; admission is $3. The visitor’s center costs an additional $3 and includes the video and admission to the museum. The visitor’s center is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. The video begins every hour on the hour beginning at 9 and ending at 4.
