The 2010 Defense Authorization Act is now law. The act includes many changes in how the military is funded and operates in 2010.
Section 524 of the act prohibits the military services from accepting any new recruit who is a member of "a group associated with hate-related violence against groups or persons or the United States Government." The provision also requires the military to discharge anyone within the ranks who is found to be a member of such a group.
