Enlisted members who are on flying status receive monthly flight pay. There are two kinds of flight pay: Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay, and Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay.
The Air Force and Navy pay enlisted members Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay, and the Army, Marines, and Coast Guard pay Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay.
The amount of pay received for Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay is based upon years of aviation service, not years of military service. The amount of pay for Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay is based upon rank.
Special Rules. Some special rules apply for enlisted members in order to be eligible for flight pay.
Enlisted members must have:
- 6 years of operatonal flying duty in the first 10 years of aviation service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 15 years of service.
- 9 years of operational flying duty in the first 15 years of service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 20 years of service.
- 14 years of operational flying duty in the first 20 years of service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 25 years of service.
