Basic Job Description
The small arms/artillery repairer performs direct support and general support maintenance and repairs on small arms and other infantry weapons, and towed artillery.
Duties performed by Soldiers in this MOS include:
Performs direct and general support maintenance on small arms and other infantry weapons, and towed artillery.
Supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions of small arms and other infantry weapons, and towed artillery.
Job training for a small arms/artillery repairer requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
Some of the skills you’ll learn are: Electronic and mechanical principles
and concepts, understanding schematics, drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams,
operating electronic, electrical and mechanical test equipment and operation,
testing and maintenance of specific types of weapons systems.
ASVAB Score Required: 93 in aptitude area GM OR 88 in aptitude area GM and 85 in aptitude area GT
