Basic Job Description
Heavy Construction Equipment Operators are integral to that process. Airfields, roads, dams and buildings can't be created without moving tons of earth and building materials or producing concrete and asphalt. Construction equipment operators use bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy equipment to complete these kinds of projects. Construction Equipment Operators are responsible for operating crawler and wheeled tractors with dozer attachments, scoop loader, backhoe loaders, hydraulic excavators, motorized grader and towed or self-propelled scraper.
Duties performed by Soldiers in this MOS include:
Interprets information on grade stakes. Clears, grubs, strips, excavates, backfills, ditches, stockpiles and pushes scraper with tractor crawler. Cuts and spread fills material with scraper. Excavates, stockpiles, backfills, and loads with loader. Scarifies, spreads, levels and constructs V ditch with grader. Transports heavy construction equipment with tractor-trailer. Assists in performance of combat engineer missions.
Constructs berms, excavates side hill and finishes side slopes with crawler tractor. Grades to final grade, finishes slopes and mixes soil stabilization materials with grader. Constructs berm with scraper. Performs surface and drainage maintenance.
3 weeks, one day at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
