15B - - Aircraft Powerplant Repairer

Basic Job Description

As an integral member of this team, the Aircraft Powerplant Repairer inspects, services and repairs Army helicopters and airplanes. The Aircraft Powerplant Repairer is primarily responsible for supervising, inspecting and performing maintenance on aircraft turbine engines and components.

Duties performed by Soldiers in this MOS include:

Removes, replaces, services, prepares, preserves, cleans and stores engine assembles or components. Disassembles, repairs, resembles, adjusts, diagnostically tests turbine engine systems, subsystems and components according to directives. Assists in troubleshooting engines and rigging engine controls. Performs limited maintenance operational checks. Uses and performs user maintenance on common and special tools. Requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft engines. Prepares request for turn-ins and repair parts and engine components. Prepares forms and records related to skill.

Provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel. Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft engines and their components. Participates in maintenance test flights as required.

Training Information

17 weeks, 4 days at Fort Eustis, VA

ASVAB Score Required: 105 in aptitude area MM

Security Clearance: None

Strength Requirement: very heavy

Physical Profile Requirement: 222222

Other Requirements

  • Normal color vision required
  • History of alcohol or drug abuse is disqualifying
  • Experimental use of Marijuana after age 18 is disqualifying
  • Documented instance of the use, sale, transfer, possession, or manufacture of any narcotic or other controlled substance or dangerous drug is disqualifying
