Summary. Small computer systems operator/programmer designs and develops microcomputer application program and systems. The Marine also provides customer assistance in dealing with the products of computer programs; deletes or upgrades outdated systems, troubleshoots programs, loads and installs custom and commercial software, and maintain programmer libraries.
Requirements/Prerequisites
(1) Any primary MOS with 6 months experience in microcomputer programming and operation.
(2) This MOS will be assigned only as an additional MOS.
Duties
(1) MGySgt to Pvt:
(a) Performs small systems software functions to include the following:
1 Writing programs.
2 Writing procedures (batch files).
3 Installing custom and commercial software.
4 Running custom and commercial software.
5 Responding to software system/program failure.
6 Maintaining software system libraries.
7 Creating user system diskettes.
8 Entering operator commands.
9 Assists in instructing of small systems software functions.
(b) Performs small systems hardware functions to include the following:
1 Operational preparation of small systems hardware including peripheral devices.
2 Operating and maintaining small systems hardware devices including peripheral devices.
3 Troubleshooting malfunctions.
4 Loading recording media into system devices.
5 Insists in instructing of small systems hardware functions.
(c) Performs small systems telecommunications functions to include the following:
1 Performing file transfer between various system devices.
2 Troubleshooting minor local area network malfunctions.
3 Assists in instructing of small systems telecommunications.
(d) Performs information computer security functions to include the following:
1 Technical analysis on computer security procedures.
2 Enforce security requirements for Protecting data against unauthorized destruction.
3 Promotes security awareness by disseminating organizational security policies.
4 Implements computer security policy as mandated by higher authority.
