Job Description: The circuit card repairer MOS identifies electronics maintenance personnel who have received training in the highly specialized area of circuit card repair. Circuit card repairers are trained in the use of automated test equipment to troubleshoot inoperative circuit cards down to the defective component. They are also trained in the specialized techniques required to remove and replace microminiature components such as surface mounted, highly static sensitive and multilead devices.
Job Requirements:
(1) EL score of 110 or higher.
(2) Must possess one of the following primary MOSs: 21XX, 28XX, 59XX.
Duties:
(1) Utilizes the microminiature component repair station, the appropriate electronic maintenance kit and automated test equipment.
(2) Performs analysis of the repair tasks required and procedures necessary to accomplish repairs.
(3) Removes conformal coating and potting compounds.
(4) Desolders and removes components in microminiature circuits.
(5) Repairs microminiature and multilayer circuit board laminates and conductors (less subsurface repair) .
(6) Makes high-reliability microelectronic solder connections.
(7) Repairs microminiature solderable connectors.
(8) Disassembles, repairs, cleans, and reassembles digital encoders.
(9) Repairs plastic edge lighted panels and their conductors.
(10) Performs electroplating of electronic circuits including edge connectors.
(11) Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on the appropriate maintenance kit.
(12) Inspects microelectronic repairs and identifies defects in workmanship.
(13) Observes all appropriate safety precautions.
(14) Supervises personnel of lower grades in the performance of microminiature circuit repair.
