MOS 0629 - - Radio Chief

Job Description: Radio chiefs supervise the installation and operation of fixed and field radio stations, microwave stations, and visual signaling stations. They prepare and execute radio communication plans vital to successful amphibious deployments with regard to highly mobile and reliable communications. Additionally, radio chiefs develop a systems approach toward communications, understanding wire and data communication equipment capabilities and systems integration.

Job Requirements:

(1) This MOS is awarded upon promotion to Staff Sergeant only to Marines holding MOS 0621, 0622, 0623, 0627, or 0628.

(2) Must be a U.S. citizen.

(3) Must have a secret security clearance

(4) Upon promotion to Staff Sergeant, Marines holding MOS 0629 are expected to attend the Radio Chiefs Course conducted at MCCES 29 Palms, CA.

(5) Active duty Marines must have two years of active duty upon completion of training.
