Job Description: Wire chiefs supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of field wire systems or outside plant facilities of a base telephone system. Wire chiefs develop a systems approach toward communications, understanding radio and data communication equipment capabilities and systems integration. Typical duties are preparation of circuit diagrams, line route maps, work schedules, switchboard programming, and instruction of wire personnel in wire systems techniques and telephone equipment employment.
Job Requirements:
(1) This MOS is awarded upon promotion to Staff Sergeant only to Marines holding MOS 0612, 0613, or 0614.
(2) Must be a U.S. citizen
(3) Must have a secret security clearance.
(4) Upon promotion to Staff Sergeant, 0619s are expected to attend the Wire Chiefs Course conducted at MCCES 29 Palms, CA
(5) Active duty Marines must have two years of active duty upon completion of training.
