Below is the chart depicting the maximum allowable weight for female Coast Guard personnel.

The Coast Guard is the only service that includes "frame size" in their weight chart. In order to determine maximum allowable weight, you must first determine the individual's "frame size code" by measuring the circumference of their wrist.

Using a cloth tape measure on the wrist of the dominant hand, fingers extended and apart, measure all the way around at the point where there are two "knobs" just above the hand. Be sure the tape goes across both bones ("knobs").

N - Under 5 1/4 inches
P - 5 1/4 to under 5 1/2
Q - 5 1/2 to under 5 3/4
R - 5 3/4 to under 6
S - 6 to under 6 1/4
T - 6 1/4 to under 6 1/2
U - 6 1/2 to under 6 3/4
V - 6 3/4 to under 7
W - 7 to under 7 1/4
X - 7 1/4 to under 7 1/2

The Coast Guard weighs members *at least* once every year. As with the other military services, the weight chart is just a screening device. A member who exceeds the maximum allowable weight on the chart above is measured for body fat, using the procedures outlined in Coast Guard Commandant Instruction (COMDTINST) M1020-8C - Allowable Weight Standards For The Health And Well-Being Of Coast Guard Military Personnel. If an individual is within the body-fat standards, they are not considered to be "over-weight," even if they exceed the limits on the above chart.

Age Body Fat Percentage
Less than 30 33%
Less than 40 35%
