Southwest Asia Service Medal

The Southwest Asia Service Medal is a Bronze medallion 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The words "SOUTHWEST ASIA SERVICE" is centered on two lines. Over the inscription is a desert landscape with a tank, armored personnel carrier, helicopter and camels beneath a rising sun in the background. Beneath the inscription is a seascape with a ship, tanker, aircraft with clouds in the background. An upright sword is shown on the reverse side partially covered by a palm frond and the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" around the border.
