Philippine Campaign Medal

The Philippine Campaign Medal is a Bronze medallion of 1 1/4 inches in diameter. In the center of the medal is a palm tree bearing coconuts. To the tree’s left is a Roman lamp and to its right is a scale. Circling around the border at the top are the words, “PHILIPPINE INSURRECTION” and the date “1899” at the bottom between two bullets. A trophy made up of a perched eagle on a cannon supported by crossed flags, rifles, and an Indian shield, spear, quiver of arrows, a Cuban machete, and a Sulu Kris is on the reverse side of the medal. Circling this are the words, “UNITED STATES ARMY” in the upper half, and thirteen stars in the lower half.
