The Army of Occupation Medal is a Bronze medallion 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Shown on the front are the Remagen Bridge abutments with the words "ARMY OF OCCUPATION" inscribed above. In the center of the reverse are two Japanese fishing boats in front of the volcano, Fujiyama. The date "1945" is below a wave under the boats.
Two Bronze clasps of 1/8 inch wide and 1 1/2 inches in length were authorized for wear on the suspension ribbon to the Army of Occupation Medal with the word "GERMANY" or "JAPAN" to show service in either Europe or the Far East.

The Berlin Airlift Device is a gilt C-54 aircraft with a 3/8 inch wingspan that is worn with the aircraft's nose pointed upward at a thirty degree angle toward the wearer's right shoulder.
