The Armed Forces Reserve Medal is a Bronze medallion 1 1/4 inches in diameter. In the center of the medallion is a flaming torch in front of a crossed powder horn and bugle. These are enclosed in a circle made up of thirteen stars and thirteen rays. The reverse of the Armed Forces Reserve Medal carries a different design for each of the reserve units. All of the medals bear the words “ARMED FORCES RESERVE" around the rim. The Organized Reserve bears a representation of the Minute Man surrounded by thirteen stars on a wreath. On the reverse of the National Guard medal is an eagle with wings outstretched with crossed fasces superimposed over the eagle.
