Schofield Barracks is located at the foot of the Waianae mountain range on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The installation is located a few miles from the towns of Wahiawa and Mililani. Fort Shafter is situated among stately plantation-style homes and royal palm trees in south Oahu in the town of Kalihi. In Hawaii, you'll find a year-round temperate climate, world-renowned beaches, breath-taking mountains and tropical splendor.

Fort Shafter has been home to the senior Army headquarters in Hawaii for nearly a century.When the post opened in 1907, it was named for MG William R. Shafter (1835-1906), who led the United States expedition to Cuba in 1898. . Fort Shafter is the headquarters of the United States Army Pacific Command, the MACOM of U.S. Army forces in Asia and the Pacific Basin.

Schofield Barracks is the largest Army post in Hawaii, located on an 18,000 acre site in central Oahu. It is named in honor of LTG John M. Schofield, who, in 1872 recognized the strategic importance of Oahu to the defense of the United States.

The mission of Fort Shafter and The 25th Infantry Division is to prepare for deployment to a theater of operations to perform combat operations as part of a corps counterattack. On order, it conducts theater-wide deployment within 54 hours of notification to perform combat operations in support of USCINCPAC theater strategy.
