Schools

Three elementary schools and one high school are located on Fort Bliss grounds. Chapin High School is near Fort Bliss. Bus transportation to off post schools is provided. All schools are part of the El Paso Independent School District.

Personnel living off post should be aware that there are also eight other school districts in the El Paso area. Personnel living in an area other than that designated as part of the El Paso Independent School district are required by law to send their children to the school district designated for that area. All nine districts have signed the memorandum of agreement.

Located in El Paso, Texas, the El Paso Independent School District, Region 19, is the largest district in the Texas Education Agency's Educational Service Center. With more than 63,000 students in 92 campuses, EPISD also is the seventh largest district in Texas and the 57th largest district in the United States. The school district is El Paso's largest employer with more than 9,000 employees and has an annual operating budget of $403 million. Organized in 1883, EPISD is not only a large district, but also one rich in history. It was home to the first kindergarten class in Texas in 1889.
