Child Care

Belvoir has four facilities including two Child Development Centers, School Age Services and Youth Services. Fort Belvoir offers 25-30 Family Child care homes. The Fort Belvoir Child and Youth Services, (CYS), offers full, part-day and hourly services.


Family Child Care (FCC) providers offer child care for school age children in homelike atmospheres. Opportunities for siblings to be together, and flexible hours are benefits of FCC. Some providers offer evening, night, and extended care for parents with non traditional work hours.


2 child development centers are located on Fort Belvoir. Both North Post and South Post CDCs are open Mon-Fri, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fees for full and part day programs are determined by the DoD fee policy and are based on family income.
The North Post CDC is in Building 1745, Phone: 703-806-6540. Full day care for children 6 weeks through 5 years,and a Part-day Preschool Program and kindergarten is provided.Part-day preschool operates 3 or 5 days a week 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is no Part-day Preschool on school out days.
The South Post CDC is in Building 1028, Phone: 703-806-4347. Full day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years and an hourly program are provided for parents needing child care on an intermittent basis. Hours for hourly care are Mon-Fri 8a.m. to 4p.m., except Wednesdays hours are 9a.m. to 4p.m.


School Age Services (SAS): The School Age Services site is located in Bldg. 950. The program offers a developmental before and-after-school child care program for students in K -6th grades with working parents. Fairfax County Public Schools provide transportation to and from Fort Belvoir Elementary School. This program provides activities which supplement the Fairfax County Public School curriculum.
