At USAG Bamberg, there is an Elementary School (grades K-6) and a separate Middle/High School (grades 7-12) located on post and within walking distance of all on post housing to educate children in grades Kindergarten through the 12th grade. All schools are accredited by the North Central Association. These schools are part of the Department of Defense Dependents Scholl (DoDDS), which is a part of Department of Defense Educational Activity (DoDEA). All ID card holders are authorized to attend the military schools on post.

The School Liaison Officer s located in building 7089 in room 224 and can be reached by phone at DSN 469-7891 or Civ 0951-300-7891.

Buses are provided free of charge but each child must be registered in the school before they can register or be issued a School Bus Pass. The School Bus Office is located in Room 118 at the Elementary School. Only those students with passes will be authorized to ride school busses. The services are limited to specific areas off post so be certain to only accept housing within the commute area. Housing will be able to tell you if your quarters will be within the bus services provided.

In order to register your child you must have current orders (family travel orders and sponsor's orders), student's social security number, I.D. card (sponsor and/or spouse and student), current shot records and local emergency contact information (other than parent).

There are many private schools in the Bamberg area. German kindergarten is for children ages three to six years of age. Most schools accept American children. School is taught in German. School hours start as early as 0730 and end as late as 1830. The school usually has someone who speaks English.
