Family housing is available to all ranks provided the service member is authorized an accompanied tour. Waiting time for government quarters is 0 to 4 weeks depending on the rank and bedroom requirement. Information and application for government family housing, assignment and termination of government family housing, temporary lodging allowance (TLA), assignment of unaccompanied personnel housing is accomplished by housing division services branch personnel located at the Central Processing Facility (or ITC — In-processing Training Center), Wiesbaden Army Airfield building 1023 West. The majority of housing is on or in the immediate vicinity of the caserns. In Wiesbaden, family housing areas located in Hainerberg, Mainz-Kastel, Crestview, and Aukamm.

Housing on the local economy in this area of Germany can be costly. The type and size will determine how much you pay. The majority of available rental property is apartments, usually one floor or section of a house, or a row (town) house. Single family homes can also be found but are not as plentiful. The average dwelling size is smaller than most Americans are used to and usually without furnished kitchens, closets or even light fixtures. Closets, kitchen cabinets and appliances can be borrowed from the furniture management office. The CHRRS office has listings of rental property and will review all leases. If you find rental property on your own, DO NOT sign a rental contract until the rental property and contract has been approved by the CHRRS office.
