USAG-Red Cloud is responsible for base operations at U.S. Army Garrison-Casey. The division's mission has remained the same for almost half a century: to assist in deterring North Korean aggression. Today, the 2nd Infantry Division continues to stand guard on "Freedom's Frontier." 2ID has a unique force structure and fighting capability not found anywhere else in the U.S. Army or on the Korean peninsula. The Warrior Division possesses more combat power than any other division within the coalition forces by the end of the 20th Century.
Camp Casey is located in Tongduchon, Korea approximately forty miles North of Seoul. Camp Casey spans nearly 3500 acres and is located within a valley, 11 miles (20 km) south of the Demilitarized Zone in the village of Tongduchon.
Service members assigned to Camp Casey are authorized the 24-month accompanied-by-dependents tour may elect to serve the 24-month accompanied-by-dependents tour. Service members not eligible to serve an accompanied by-dependents-tour will serve a dependent-restricted 12-month tour. Service members selected for assignment to these locations who apply for Family Travel/Command Sponsorship will be required to sign an "Acknowledgement of Command Sponsorship Benefit Limitations" And receive counseling relative to the facilities limitations from the gaining Battalion Commander (or equivalent) prior to final approval of Command Sponsorship by USFK.
