Air Force Category 1 Criminal Offenses

AFRS Instruction 36-2001, Air Force Recruiting, lists the below offenses as Category 1 Moral offenses. This list is just a guide. The Air Force will consider violations of a similar nature or seriousness as a Category 1 offense. A conviction or adverse adjudication for any of the offenses listed is disqualifying for entry into the Air Force. The waiver approval authority is the Air Force Recruiting Service commander or vice commander.

  • Aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, intentionally inflicting great bodily harm, with intent to commit a felony (adjudicated as an adult only).
  • Bribery (adjudicated as an adult only).
  • Burglary (adjudicated as an adult only).
  • Carnal knowledge of a child under 16 years of age.
  • Draft evasion.
  • Extortion (adjudicated as an adult only).
  • Indecent acts or liberties with a child under 16 years of age, molestation.
  • Kidnapping, abduction.
  • Manslaughter (includes voluntary and vehicular).
  • Murder.
  • Perjury (adjudicated as an adult only).
  • Rape.
  • Robbery (adjudicated as an adult only).
