You'll spend a significant amount of time during Air Force Basic Military Training (AFBMT) in the classroom. You may think this sounds like a treat, but most recruits hate classroom training. Why? Because you're tired all the time in basic, and there is something about the comfortable seat, and the droning voice of someone trying to teach you something, that tries to lull you into much-needed sleep. Don't even think about it during these classroom training sessions. Falling a sleep, or even "resting your eyes" for a few minutes is a sure way to get your T.I.s unwanted attention.
Some of the topics you'll learn during classroom training include:
- Human Relations
- Air Force History and Organization
- Rendering Courtesies
- Self Aid and Buddy Care (first aid)
- Law of Armed Conflict
- Chemical/Biological Warfare
- Code of Conduct
- Cultural Sensitivity
- Military Law and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ)
- Military Entitlements ( pay & benefits )
- Financial Management
- Staff Referral Agencies
- Dress and Appearance
- Air Force Rank Recognition
- Fitness and Nutrition
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Military Citizenship
- Ethics
- Environmental Awareness
- Resource Protection
- Security and Security Clearances
- Mental Preparation for Combat
- Career Progression ( Air Force promotion system )
- Air Force Assignment System
- Air Force Quality Force Program
- Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment
- Aerospace Expeditionary Force Environment
