Health Services at Elmendorf are excellent. Most services and specialties are available at the 3rd Medical Group or through arrangements with civilian agencies by way of TRICARE. All of Alaska falls under the TRICARE West Region.
During base inprocessing you will attend the 3rd Medical Group Healthmart. You will be given all the information on TRICARE at that time and a health care provider will be assigned to you and your family members. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Free childcare is available through the Child Care for PCS program at the Family and Airman Readiness Center.
Mental health services for residential treatment are extremely limited; additionally, there are some specialties that are very limited. If you or your family members have a special need, check with the Family Advocacy Office to ensure your health needs can be met. Anchorage has several full service and specialty hospitals just minutes from Elmendorf.
