Several Child Care programs are offered on Ramstein and Vogelweh, as well as several Child Development Centers and Youth Activity Centers around the Kaiserslautern Military Community. Once the family has become "members" of the CDC and/or Youth Center, families can use other centers throughout the U.S. Air Forces in Europe. The new Resource and Referral Office located in Building 408, serves as a one-stop centralized location for all 435th Services Child Development Center waiting lists. You can contact the Resource and Referral Office directly. Office: 314-480-5761 Civilian: 06371-47-5761 Outside Germany: 49-6371-47-5761; Fax: 314-480-4287 Civilian: 06371-47-4287 Outside Germany: 49-6371-47-4287.

There are 4 Child Development Centers on Ramstein AB. Families may register for child care at multiple facilities in the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC). It is highly recommended that parents consider their assigned school district when considering desired facility and usage of priority before registration. DoDDS schools will not guarantee placement into a school that is not in the district in which you live, regardless of your child care arrangements. If you choose care out of your child's school district you reserve the option to place your child on a Desire List for possible slot offer at another Child Development Center (CDC) or School-Age Program (SAP). For your school district and more information about the Kaiserslautern District Feeder Plan, please call the Ramstein School Bus office at 06371-47-2877 or DSN 314-480-2877.

Due to the lack of off-base child care facilities, it is highly recommended you think about taking action on child care issues before PCSing to Ramstein. Both Child Development Centers and School Age Care programs have waiting lists. We encourage you to place your child/children on the appropriate waiting list through your sponsor or by contacting the CDC as soon as you receive orders. Contact numbers are: Main Ramstein CDC Location: Bldg. 853 Phone number: DSN 480-9276 or commercial 011-49-6371-47-9276; Vogelweh Location: Bldg. 1044 Phone number: DSN 489-6040 or commercial 011-49-631-536-6040.

The School Age Care program is for children from 5 to 12 years old, with either before school care, after school care or both available. The School Age Care Program is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hourly care is provided on a space available basis.

There are many organizations on base and in the community for children to get involved with. The Youth Center is the best and most centralized source for them to learn what is available. The Chapel, 435th Services Squadron, Red Cross and their school are other sources to assist your kids in settling into their new home. To get them excited to come to the KMC, go to your base Airman and Family Readiness Center and ask the Relocation personnel to request a sponsor for your child/children.
