Two facilities serve Langley's child care needs, Russ Child Development Center on main base and Bethel Manor Child Development Center, which is located in the Bethel Manor housing area. Air Force policies for childcare operations mandate the best possible programs, children to caregiver ratios, nutritional requirements and staff training. Our Child Development Centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In addition, both centers are Department of Defense certified (meet extensive DoD standards to operate). Phone (757) 764-3585/5650 for more information.
Each Center is frequently inspected by fire, safety, public health and higher headquarters officials to ensure the rigid standards are maintained. These modern facilities provide developmental programs designed to meet the intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs of children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old. Children are assessed (through observations) by their teachers and developmentally appropriate activities are developed to meet each child's needs. Call for information regarding programs offered, costs, eligibility and registration requirements.
The Family Child Care Program offers care for infants and children through age 12. It also provides a home environment with small group settings and developmental learning activities. The Family Child Care Program is an extension of the Child Development Program on Langley AFB. Please contact the office by calling 764-2360.
