Grand Forks AFB is utilizing nearly 800 military family housing units. Privatization is scheduled to be in place fall 2009. Please contact the Housing Office at 701-747-3035 or DSN 312-362-3035 as soon as possible after receipt of orders, either directly or through your sponsor. Before military members seek off-base accommodations, they are encouraged to check with the Housing Office.

Grand Forks AFB has a two pet policy in military family housing. Wait times vary, the military member should contact the Housing Office at 701-747-3035 or DSN 312-362-3035 for accurate wait times and availability.

Number of units available by rank:

E-6 and below: 103 two bedroom, 338 three bedroom, and 79 four bedroom units.
E-7-9: 102 three bedroom, 46 four bedroom units.
Company Grade Officers: 29 two bedroom, 30 three bedroom, 18 four bedroom units.
Field Grade Officers: 21 Three bedroom, 19 four bedroom units.
Senior Officers: 7 four bedroom units

Single service members, if they are eligible, will be assigned a room in the dorm. Inform the First Sergeant of the Squadron you will be assigned if you have been previously married and will be arriving with items that will need storage. There are currently 480 bed spaces available for Unaccompanied Airman Housing. There are currently 26 Handicap adaptable units on Grand Forks AFB. For availability and eligibility requirements contact the Housing Office at 701-747-3035 or DSN 312-362-3035.

Regardless of the branch of service, all newly assigned personnel to Grand Forks AFB have a mandatory reporting requirement to the base housing office. Do not seek community housing or sign a contract unless you have reported to the housing office first. You can contact the Grand Forks Housing Office at 701-747-3030.

The Greater Grand Forks area (Grand Forks ND/East Grand Forks MN) has a fair supply of rental properties. Other communities are Emerado, Hatton, Northwood, Larimore, and Manvel. The surrounding areas are of a small rural setting. The driving distance from the base range from 15 to 40 miles, winter driving conditions impact choice of location for many personnel. Entry level rental prices range from $500 for a one bedroom, $700 for a two bedroom, to $900 for a three bedroom. Home purchase cost are in the surrounding areas are considerably less than the greater Grand Forks area.
