The Child Development Center at Barksdale AFB is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs and certified by the Department of Defense. Child care is offered for working parents-both military and DoD civilians. Child care services for children ages six weeks to five years of age, are provided Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The center, located on Kenny Avenue, has 15 fully-equipped activity rooms and a large kitchen. All meals served are in compliance with USDA nutrition guidelines. A large outside fenced area with age-appropriate equipment and shaded canopies is available.

The center includes an accredited pre-school program for 3- to 5-year-olds separating and monitoring children according to age.

Parents must register their child and bring current immunization records prior to the first visit. For more information call commercial (318) 456-4139 or DSN 781-4139.

The family child care program provides care for children ages six weeks to 12 years in a home environment. This program is available for parents wishing to have child care in a smaller setting. Family child care providers are limited to caring for no more than six children at any given time. Providers receive the same training as he caregivers working in the child development center and are inspected monthly to ensure they are providing quality care for all children.
