Fox Army Hospital in Huntsville, AL, is about 65 miles from Arnold AFB. Blanchford Army hospital at Fort Campbell, KY, is about 110-115 miles northwest of the base. No full-time military physician is assigned to Arnold AFB. However, through a Department of Veterans Affairs sharing agreement, a doctor is available for 1 1/2 hours each day Monday-Friday. There is no sick call for military personnel. However, active-duty people can contact the Air Force Medical Aid Station any time during normal duty hours for appointments with the independent duty medical technician. Active-duty military personnel must be seen by the IDMT before making doctor's appointments. Military personnel and their families' appointments are scheduled Monday-Friday from 7-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
A reserve dental officer handles routine dental work. Emergency dental care is scheduled at the nearest military or civilian location as required by the Medical Aid Station. Family members of active-duty military are not eligible for dental care at the Medical Aid Station. Some local dentists accept payments from military health programs. Under the new guidance of TriCare Prime Remote (TPR) Dental, all active duty members assigned to AEDC have a choice to choose who you would like to provide your dental care. You may choose the dentist your family members are currently utilizing, select another dental provider in the local area, or choose to continue to utilize the military dental services at Redstone Arsenal.
