President Obama has released his proposal for a raise in military base pay in 2012. Usually, Congress would approve a raise in base pay which is slightly higher than what is submitted in the President's budget request, however, this year is a year which is focused on reducing the amount of Government spending, so there are no alternative plans being considered by Congress. In other words, it looks like the amount shown on the below chart will be approved.
The 2012 Military base pay raise proposal is 1.6%. If approved, the raise will be effective in the January 2012 pay period, which means members will see it in their January 15th paycheck. Pay is based on Military pay grade and number of years in service.
