The issue of women in combat is not a new one. Women have fought and died in combat in almost every war the United States has been involved in. Women fought and died during the Revolutionary War. Women have dropped bombs on Iraq. A few days ago, 2 Navy women lost their lives on the USS Cole, along with several of their male counterparts. Congressional law, however, does forbid the military from assigning women to any job who's primary function involves ground-combat. Is it time for Congress to take another look at this provision?
