U.S. Military Poll

In support of the "War Against Terrorism," the Air Force and Navy have instituted a "Stop Loss." A "Stop Loss" basically means that most personnel cannot separate or retire, even if their commitment to the military is up. For the Air Force, the Stop Loss affects all AFSCs (jobs) and will last through *AT LEAST* January 2002. At that time, the Air Force may change the Stop Loss to affect only "shortage" jobs. For the Navy, the Stop Loss currently runs until the end of April 2002, and affects sailors in specific, "shortage" ratings (jobs). The Army has elected not to implement Stop Loss at this time. The Marine Corps has said they have not yet decided whether or not to implement Stop Loss. In these times of "All Volunteer Force," do you think the Stop Loss Program is fair? |
