Egypt Says US Needs to Stop Helping Israel: CAIRO -- President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt said that continued U.S. military aid to Israel could prompt Arab countries to seek nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. "Israel is in the process of amassing weapons, and America is supplying it with these weapons," Mubarak said Wednesday at a ceremony inaugurating a bridge. Israel receives about $2 billion annually in conventional U.S. military aid, a fact that has led many Arabs to blame the United States for Palestinian casualties during the last 13 months of renewed violence over the Israeli occupation of much of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Egypt receives U.S. military assistance that has averaged $1.2 billion annually since the signing of the Camp David accords in 1979.
