Hero's Family Greet Namesake Warship: ABOARD THE HOWARD -- Jimmie E. Howard, a 6-foot-3 war hero who was all Marine, wouldn't have wanted the fuss. Still, this Medal of Honor winner's family was overwhelmed yesterday when the Navy destroyer named for him steamed into San Diego Bay, passing his grave at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on the way to its new home port. Meanwhile, sailors serving on the Navy's newest warship said they are proud to take it into service during wartime.
