Tech Order, Sucked Into Engine, Cost the AF Big Bucks: A misplaced technical binder sucked through the engine of a F-15C Eagle fighter jet at Kadena Air Base on Okinawa in November will cost the Air Force more than $1 million in damage and repairs. An accident investigation board faulted the F-15’s crew chief, for failing "to adequately finish preparing the aircraft for scheduled mission," the report stated. The documents were stowed on the plane’s nose landing gear door, an unusual storage location that hid them from view of safety inspections. The pilot was cleared of any responsibility for the incident.
