U.S. Targets Strongholds: U.S. jets today launched heavy bombing raids on three key Taliban positions -- north of Kabul, near the contested northern Afghan city of Mazar-e Sharif and outside the Taliban southern stronghold of Kandahar. As usual, few of these reports could be independently confirmed. But today's raids appeared to be among the heaviest since the U.S. bombing campaign began earlier this month.
