3 Servicemembers Held for Assault: OCEANSIDE -- Three Camp Pendleton-based servicemen were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a police sergeant on patrol heard a commotion and found them beating two men in the street. Oceanside police Sgt. Rich Browning was patrolling the area near Pierview Way when he heard a disturbance Thursday night or early Friday morning. Apparently, a transient and one of the men had traded words and then a passer-by tried to intervene, police said. The men -- two Marines and one Navy corpsman -- began to beat the men up.
