Thanksgiving in Afghanistan: KABUL, Afghanistan — Ask Americans at Thanksgiving what they are most thankful for and they’ll likely mentioned their family, friends or health. Ask most Afghans today what they are most thankful for and they’ll more than likely give thanks for who is not around rather than who is. "I’m thankful the Taliban left Kabul, because none of the schools, colleges or universities were open. None of them," said Hammed, a young shopkeeper. "I need education." Hammed and other Afghans spoke through an interpreter Wednesday about what they were most thankful for 10 days after the Taliban militia pulled out of Kabul.
