Description of NEC: Provides medical services for personnel in field units. Provides technical and administrative assistance to support the mission and functions of Navy and Marine Corps field units. Maintains organizational level AMAL's. Assists in the procurement and distribution of supplies and equipment for field use and combat areas. Maintains field treatment facilities. Renders first aid and emergency medical treatment to unit personnel/combatants. Coordinates and performs medical evacuation procedures. Ensures observance of field sanitary measures and preventive measures in specialized warfare. Conducts first aid and health education training programs. Source ratings: HM Paygrades Authorized to Hold NEC: E3-E9 Training Course: Course Mandatory Open to Women: Yes SPECIAL NOTES: 'Assign NEC to inactive duty Naval Reservists upon successful completion of Field Medical Service School (FMSS) under the NEC Attainment Program (NECAP). Training program consists of five Inactive Duty Training Travel (IDTT) periods of didactic training and 17 days annual training (AT)(didactic/practical) at training platform(s) as determined by Commander, Naval Surface reserve Force (N&), FMSS Camp Lejeune and FMSS Camp Pendleton.
