General Info: Nuclear-trained MMs, EMs and ETs perform duties in nuclear propulsion plants operating reactor control, propulsion and power generation systems. The character of NF jobs is mentally stimulating and offers career growth. The NF provides opportunities to work closely with specialists in the nuclear, technology, and engineering fields. What They Do: The Navy is the leader in the development and safe operation of nuclear power plants and provides the most comprehensive technical education available in the NF. Detailed List of Required Duties ASVAB Score Requirements: VE+AR+MK+MC+NAPT>=290 AND NAPT>=50 or AR+MK+EI+GS+NAPT>OR=290 and AND NAPT>OR=50 or AR+MK+EI+GS>=252 or VE+AR+MK+MC>OR=252 Other Requirements: Must have normal color perception. Must have normal hearing Security Clearance (SECRET) Requirement. 72 month obligation. Must be U.S. citizen High school diploma graduate or equivalent. Must be able to type 40 words per minute. Must have no record of conviction by civil court for any offense other than minor traffic. Notes: All candidates for ratings in the nuclear field (NF) program must meet test score criteria (no waivers) and other criteria set forth in NAVMILPERSCOMINST 1306.11 (series). All candidates must be high school graduate (GED not acceptable), and have completed at least one year of algebra with a minimum grade of "C".
