Summary. Marksmanship Instructors instruct in all phases of the Marine Corps Marksmanship Program on the qualification and requalification on small arms ranges. Additionally, they assist in the operation of firing ranges.

Requirements/Prerequisites

(1) Must have previously held MOS 8530.

(2) Must be qualified on the service rifle and pistol.

(3) Complete the Marksmanship Instructor Course (MIC) Program of Instruction as prescribed by CG MCCDC (C468).

(4) To be assigned only as a secondary MOS or as a billet designator.

Duties

(1) MGySgt to Sgt:

(a) Instructs all three phases of rifle and pistol marksmanship.

(b) Analyzes difficulties of firers during dry and live firing exercises and provides corrective assistance to individuals to improve their marksmanship skill and confidence.

(c) Enforces firing safety regulations.

(d) Assists the range officer in the overall conduct of the range.
