Summary. Air traffic controllers-radar perform various duties within a radar facility incident to the control of air traffic at an established air traffic control facility, expeditionary airfield, or remote landing areas. They coordinate aircraft movement information with associated facilities or agencies, coordinate current weather and airfield conditions as required, and perform air traffic control duties in both tactical and nontactical air traffic control organizations. This MOS may be assigned as a skill designator MOS Only.

Requirements/Prerequisites

(1) Must possess MOS 7257.

(2) Must meet the physical requirements per NAVMED P-117, chapter 15, article 65, para 7(W) and pass a medical examination.

(3) Must possess normal color vision.

(4) Qualify as a radar final controller.

(5) Must have a secret security clearance.

Duties

(1) Cpl to Pvt: Performs duties as a radar final controller.

(2) Sgt to Cpl: Supervises trainees on radar final controller positions.

(3) Sgt to Cpl: Supervises trainees on radar final controller positions.

(4) GySgt and SSgt:

(a) Performs duties as a radar watch supervisor.

(b) May act as a crew chief.

(5) GySgt:

(a) May act as a radar chief or training standardization supervisor.

(b) Organizes and administers a radar facility.

(c) May perform as the air traffic control specialist examiner.

(d) May perform as detachment NCOIC within a Marine Air Control Squadron (MACS).
