This Directive establishes DoD policy and assigns responsibilities for providing military assistance to civil authorities. Supersedes reference Secretary of Defense Memorandum, :Military Assistance to Civil Authorities, " December 12, 1995. Cancels reference Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandum, "Support of Civil authorities in airplane Hijacking Emergencies, " July 29, 1972 and AR 385-70/AFR 55-13/OPNAVINST 3710.18B, "Unmanned Free Balloons and Kites, and Unmanned Rockets, ".
